Statistics reveal a decrease in book readership in Poland, but is it something we should be surprised by? The exhibition in Delicacies, a new publishing house and gallery, presents the ways in which literature influences visual arts, how books shape sensitivity, and how visual artists imagine being a writer. The exhibition displays works which take books as their point of departure; their form, however, reach beyond a traditional book illustration. The works presented relate to existing books, but most of them make an effort to catch the spirit of danger present in literature. The exhibition considers a book a source of both social and personal conflict and reminds that it is not unusual to encounter shiny, beautiful covers hiding treacherous and hostile content. More and more new books fill in bookstores, and we cannot predict which book will become a hotbed of revolution.
